Crossing the Camino

In the Indo today Anne-Marie Walsh reports that grandmothers are making early exits from the workforce to look after children due to soaring childcare costs. Walsh says that while much of the debate has been about mothers having to step away from work for childcare duties, recent studies suggest that over-55s stepping in to bail out their own children, when they become parents, may be a factor hindering older women from holding down jobs.

 

Elsewhere, the conservative PiS party won yesterday's Polish general election, and, in the last half hour, it's been reported that the Catalan separatist leaders have been given lengthy prison sentences.

 

Inevitably, the re-purposed Brexit deal with its two borders, a fake beard and gruff denials that it looks almost exactly like the last Brexit deal has prompted the DUP to throw its toys out of the pram. Again. 

 

Your Zen this morning is for the Breaking Bad fans. The new sequel movie, El Camino, is now on Netflix and for the fans among you it's a great epilogue chapter to the amazing TV series.
