The Times reports that the next public-service pay agreement may include provision for some element of local bargaining in various parts of the State sector rather than simply involving an across-the-board arrangement.

 

In climate action news all 34 local authorities in Ireland will today sign a charter committing to decarbonising their activities, pursuing sustainable development and “building climate resilience into every aspect of the work they do".

Unite has warned that the English Language Teaching sector could well be facing into a period of serious industrial relations disruption as members prepare for a further two-day strike at Delfin English Language school in Dublin.

And finally in Brexit news, EU members have agreed to postpone Brexit for up to three months, stepping in with a decision less than 90 hours before Britain was due to crash out with no divorce deal. The next deadline for departure will be 31 January next year - although the other 27 member states would allow an earlier date if the UK ratifies a withdrawal agreement before then.
