  • Galway based recruitment and HR company, ICE Group, has announced its decision to move to a four day week: "Working effectively now means working less and having a 3-day weekend enables people to have quality time outside of their job to do the things they want with the people they love. We value our employees and want to ensure that their quality of life both inside and out of work is as good as it can be.”
  • Mike Jennings represented IFUT as a member of the ETUCE (European region of Education International) delegation to the recent conference of the ETUC in Vienna. He spoke there about the exploitation of workers in the university sector.

Dublin's fair city

Dublin’s Moore Street is located on the north side of the city centre and is home to Ireland’s oldest food market.

The street is a bustling centre of street trade in fresh fruit, vegetables and fish, and an important hub of activity for the city’s growing multicultural population.

In April 1916 Irish Volunteers commanded by Patrick Pearse surrendered to British forces here, marking the end of the Easter Rising.

More recently, one of Dublin's very successful musical exports - Fontaines D.C. - recorded a video for their song Big on the famous market street. If you don’t get time to visit Moore Street this week, this video provides a quick introduction.
