In Covid news, the HSE on Friday last set out new guidelines on the sequence in which healthcare workers should be vaccinated against Covid-19 in the weeks ahead. Frontline staff are being asked to register on a new online portal, which will come into effect tomorrow. The sequence for vaccination is to be based on the type of work a person does, as well as the setting in which they work.

 

It's reported today that the HSE is to establish centres in about 40 locations across the country to provide Covid-19 vaccines to the wider population in the weeks ahead.

 

The Indo reports today that a new benefit will be announced today for retirees over the age of 65, which means they will no longer have to sign on to bridge the gap until they can claim the State pension.

 

The Business Post front page yesterday announced a delay to the pension auto-enrolement scheme, while on page eight of the paper Michael Brennan highlighted the benefits of Building Momentum to workers in the public service both in terms of pay and allowances.

 

Elsewhere, the Irish TImes reports today that a special school for children with complex needs is taking legal action in a bid to prevent a boy with autism from being readmitted on the basis that his behaviour "has put staff and students at risk."
