The Career Pathways industrial action has been suspended. This comes after the WRC requested a suspension of industrial action due to progress made in discussions. There is now a clear timeline for all parties to complete the Career Pathway Review process originally agreed in 2018.

 

The Clerical Admin/Managerial Greade dispute has also been suspended. A document provided by the WRC on Tuesday represents sufficient progress and a decision has been made to suspend the industrial action until the 30th September 2023 to allow all parties to engage further.  

 

In a pre-budget submission the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council (Ifac), an independent statutory body set up to scrutinise the Government’s fiscal plans and forecasts, said that the Government risked undermining its credibility and “repeating Ireland’s past mistakes” if it pressed ahead with plans to breach its own spending rules each year until 2026. 

 

The State is poised to settle the last remaining debts of Anglo Irish Bank and Irish Nationwide Building Society, finally closing off the liabilities of two failed lenders whose demise cost taxpayers €37.5 billion.

The principal of a post-primary school has been suspended amid allegations of the emotional and physical abuse of students over several years. The allegations include the forced partial undressing by the principal of an autistic pupil in front of other students, the removal of special toys that autistic children use as a calming tool, inappropriate physical contact with students, including hugging them and sitting on their laps, and the verbal belittling of children attending the school. 

 

Speed limits on many roads are set to be reduced under plans being developed by Government.It follows the recent rise in road fatalities after twice the number of people lost their lives on Irish roads last month compared to August 2022.
