Cue high drama

Mrs May isn't the only one struggling to do a deal, as talks on a new nurses' contract broke up without agreement yesterday.

Just 18 days away from what will/might/won't be Brexit day, and the papers are full of speculation and analysis. Pat Leahy pondered the possible impact on Irish general election timing in Saturday's Irish Times, and mentioned Fórsa's position on public service pay as outlined by Kevin Callinan at the IRN conference last week.

Needless to say, there's also widespread coverage of the tragic crash of an Ethiopian Airlines 737 MAX8 yesterday, which killed 157 people including Irishman Mick Ryan. The International airline pilots' association issued this statement.

Elsewhere, a number of outlets pick up Fórsa's comments (first reported in yesterday's Sunday Times) about the rising number of public order incidents at Dublin airport. Also worth a read, yesterday's Sindo (yes, the Sunday Independent) had this on the many successful public service capital projects.

Those of you in and around Cork should make your way to City Hall for the ICTU housing protest at 5pm this evening. There'll be Fórsa banners aplenty.

The iconic Blue Note label is celebrating 80th years of bringing the best of innovative jazz to your ears. I can't pick a favourite. Ah, alright Zen.
