The Indo reports on a survey of employers which found that 48% of employers favour a mix of remote and office based working when restrictions are lifted.

 

Shortages of lower-skilled workers and subsequent pressure on wages have the potential to be as harmful to the Irish economy as a shortage of skilled labour, according to The Times.

 

The Financial Times has this piece on the resurgence of trade unions. 

 

Vaccine supply issues are afoot as Ireland is set to receive less than half the deliveries of Covid-19 vaccines it originally expected in the first three months of the year.

 

About 4,000 people in receipt of the Pandemic Unemployment Payment returned to work this week. The reduction was most notable in the construction sector, which saw just over 1,000 people in the industry leave the PUP scheme this week to return to work.

And finally, The Times reports that the Minister for Public Expenditure was advised by senior officials in his department that plans to pay the next secretary general of the Department of Health a salary of €292,000 could have knock-on implications for remuneration in other top-level Civil Service posts.
