The 19 affiliate unions of the Public Services Committee of the ICTU will meet tomorrow morning to discuss the invitation from the government to public service pay talks. Yesterday's statement, issued following an early morning meeting of the PSC officers, was picked up by The Irish Times, RTE and (coloured in by) the Indo.

The Irish Times newsletter Inside Politics also comments on the prospect and time limits for public service pay talks.

In other union news, SIPTU delegates in Galway elected Greg Ennis as the union's new deputy general secretary for the private sector. Union delegates also received an address by RMT general secretary Mick Lynch, who called for a trade union revival to push back against the "global attack on workers' rights."

An Bord Pleanála continues to feature in the news headlines, as Paul Hyde, a former deputy chairman of ABP, avoided jail after appealing his two-month prison sentence for making false or misleading declarations.

Your Zen this morning is this moderately amusing knock-knock joke

Have a great Thursday.
