Aer Lingus pilots have overwhelmingly backed industrial action in an 'indicative' ballot over rostering. The Irish Independent reports that over 90pc of the airline's IALPA members indicated they are prepared to go on strike.

Following on from the success of Trans Pride in Dublin last weekend, a transgender woman in Derry has settled a case against the Department for Communities to back pay state pension entitlements. In other retirement related news, Irish pension funds have reduced their exposure to equities, diversifying into other asset classes including property, infrastructure and hedge funds, according to Mercer's 2019 European Asset Allocation survey.

The Minister for Health has said care for patients in the mental health services will be negatively hit as a result of a new overtime ban to be put in place by psychiatric nurses. Members of the PNA are to stage a de facto overtime ban from Thursday, in protest of a lack of meaningful progress in dealing with recruitment and retention difficulties.

UK civil servants are due to take part in a full-day strike on July 26 over a below-inflation 1.25% pay offer and objections to certain terms and conditions. Nipsa deputy general secretary Carmel Gates said that the fact 68.5% voted in favour "shows the depth of our anger."
