Fórsa has secured a reversal of Dublin City Council (DCC) plans to outsource parts of the city’s litter warden services. Management at DCC are now engaging with the union in talks over alternative options, in the hopes of drawing up a revised proposal.

Fórsa official Tony Martin said the cessation of plans to privatise some of the litter warden service in Dublin was a victory. He said he is hopeful further positive outcomes can be achieve in renewed talks, having brought DCC management back to the negotiating table.

“Management is still planning a major restructure of the provision of services, so there’s still work to do to in order to fend off further attempts to outsource aspects of the service,” he said.

Tony warned that the withdrawal of the outsourcing proposal could be in jeopardy if further agreement cannot be reached on restructuring in the service during the fresh round of talks.
