Credit union for SNAs

The Central Bank has approved plans for the Dublin City Council-based credit union Dubco to provide services to special needs assistants (SNAs).

Head of Fórsa’s Local Government division Peter Nolan welcomed the announcement. “Access to the Dubco credit union is a welcome option for SNAS who can’t avail of credit union services through their employments,” he said.

Dubco holds its annual general meeting tomorrow (29th November) when it is expected to ratify the plans.

Peter added that a number of the unions’ SNA branches had already expressed an interest in the credit union services.

The Central Bank has also given the all-clear for Dubco services to be provided to local authority staff who don’t have access to a credit union through their workplace.
