Are you a technician working in a local authority?

Local bargaining is a key feature of the Public Service Agreement 2024 - 2026, outlined in Clause 4.2.1 of the agreement. It is a new process of national bargaining for collective issues specific to a grade, group or category. Claims amounting to 3% can be made, however there will be no automatic payment without a claim being submitted.

To date, Fórsa has lodged two national claims, now the local government and local services division is now preparing to progress other claims for members working in identified bargaining units.

To ensure members’ specific challenges are addressed in these claims, Fórsa is consulting members prior to developing each claim.

To that end, following consultation with the Technicians Professional Committee in the division, a survey has issued to members working in all technician grades in the sector. If you haven’t received the survey and are working in a technician role in the local government sector, please email localgovernmentinfo@forsa.ie.

Head of the LocalGovernment and Local Services division Richy Carrothers said: “It is important to make your voice heard to help shape the claim. This is a unique opportunity for you to tell us what matters most to you. After we receive your responses, we’ll review them and use that information to develop the claim, which will be submitted on your behalf.”
