Fórsa is supporting a bid to have the civil defence service enhanced in light of the coronavirus crisis.

For some time, the union has sought the appointment of assistant civil defence officers across the country. Right now, most councils only have one civil defence officer on the payroll.

It now looks likely that local government employers will adopt the Fórsa proposal by appointing assistant officers from the ranks of senior civil defence volunteers.
