A dispute in South Dublin County Council in relation to the outsourcing of legal services associated with rate collection remains ongoing.
Fórsa official Maura Calahan said “Agreement has been reached that a ballot will go ahead in January. In the weeks ahead we will engage with members to progress matters.”
The outsourcing of legal services in SDCC began in 2019 to clear a backlog for a two-year period. Thereafter management extended the contract without consultation.
Fórsa has been trying to secure agreement with management to establish correct staffing resources within the Legal Department to allow the work to return in-house.
Maura continued: “Our members in SDCC feel strongly that this issue must be resolved promptly. It has been ongoing for several years, and it does no one any favours to let it continue to drag on like this.”
Maura continued: “We remain available for further engagement with management on this matter. Engagement by management now needs to be meaningful and aimed at a resolution, rather than what has happened thus far from their side.”
