IALPA members are being balloted for industrial action, up to and including strike action, with the ballot due to conclude next Wednesday (12th June). The ballot is widely reported this morning.

The 10th European Parliament elections get underway today (Ireland votes tomorrow) as the Irish Tiimes reports that record number of far-right candidates are running in tomorrow’s local elections, while anti-immigration candidates have been using increasingly extreme rhetoric in the run-up to the vote.

Miriam Lord writes that "Change in the air on Moore Street as candidates get a frosty reception from stallholders," as she says canvassing with some candidates, "you can sense a cooler atmosphere."

Elsewhere this morning, there's news of an Israeli strike on a UN school in Gaza that left 27 dead.
