Good morning colleagues,

Fórsa members at Barnardos have served notice of industrial action from 25th June. There's more on that story today in the Health & Welfare members' news bulletin, which will be published this morning, alongside bulletins for all divisions.

ECB rates are down (way down) and the other big economic news today is that the State’s corporate tax receipts fell 30% last month, with the exchequer collecting €1.1 billion less in May compared to the same month last year.

Inevitably, the relationship between two spoilt brats will sour, and so it has in Washington DC, where the agent of chaos is now outside the Trump tent and redirecting his micturations. Keith Duggan writes (oh so very well).

Ronan McGreevy reminisces about the homes and infrastructure output of the Celtic Tiger era which, even at the time, was considered insufficient to meet future needs.

Finally, a solicitor working with Afghan refugees in Ireland has said that Government delays in processing refugee family reunification applications are having a “devastating” impact on families torn apart by war and violence.

Zen

The morning briefing will take a little break next week to have a gawk around Milan and Turin. Here's a sizable chunk of zen in the form of Hania Rani's 2023 concert film which has just been released on the wonderful ARTE channel on YouTube. She's amazing.

Have a lovely weekend.
