If you missed it on Tuesday night, our own Aisling Cusack featured in Prime Time's coverage of remote work. The piece includes contributions from Mary Connaughton of CIPD (whose work you may know from the annual employment survey presentation at the IRN conference) and our ICTU colleague Dr Laura Bambrick on the studio panel. It's on the RTE player (here) and Louise Byrne's feature article is available here.
A former Twitter executive will argue for a higher award for loss of earnings at a Labour Court appeal that opens this week, following his unfair dismissal from the sewer media platform, while the Indo reports that finance minister Paschal Donohoe is staying home from the UK-Irish ministerial summit to “work the phones” on promised US tariffs on EU exports.
On the recommendation of a complete stranger a couple of weeks ago I started watching Severance and...I'm completely hooked. A brilliant satire of corporatism and the concept of a work/life balance, it is bleakly hilarious, strange and insightful. There are echoes of The Prisoner and Twin Peaks in there, and brilliant performances by great cast. Highly recommended...although don't expect any collective bargaining, it's clearly a non-union workplace.
