In a reverse of measures elsewhere to shorten the working week, and in a bid to boost productivity and address labour shortages, Greek workers are now facing the prospect of a six-day/48 hour working week. Akis Sotiropoulos, speaking on behalf of the civil servants’ union Adedy, says it makes no sense 'whatsoever': “When almost every other civilised country is enacting a four-day week, Greece decides to go the other way.”
